International Theatre Scenic & Lighting Designer Denis ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson

Denis as worked on shows ranging from experimental theatre via contemporary dance and musicals to ballet and opera. Career highlights include both scenic and lighting designs for KHONGOLOSE KHOMMANDING KHOMMISSARS, FREUD'S LAST SESSION, THE IMAGINED LAND, SUNSET BOULEVARD, DELIRIUM, BROTHERS IN BLOOD, ROMANCE, BIG BAND BLAST, LIFE x3, AMADEUS, TELL ME ON A SUNDAY, MOJO, A HANDFUL OF KEYS and THE FOUR SEASONS as well as lighting for THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE, THE VORTEX, AFRICAN FOOTPRINT, ROSALINDA, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, CLOSER and a season of seven South African plays for WOZA AFRICA at the Lincoln Festival in New York. As a theatre consultant his projects have included the MONUMENT THEATRE in Makhanda, the ARTS CENTRE for the University of Johannesburg, both the GLOBE and the LYRIC theatres at Gold Reef City, the three venues at the SOWETO THEATRE as well as new theatres in Senegal, Uganda, and Tanzania. He has taught at both the University of the Witwatersrand and Oklahoma State University where he also lit THE DROWSY CHAPERONECABARET, TRUE WEST and OKLAHOMA!.
